CEA - 6 - DO THIS FOR REMEMBRANCE OF ME (28 min.)

Produced for the Standing Liturgical Commission "to relate the experience of liturgy to the experience of everyday life," this video presents the Eucharist as it is celebrated on the Third Sunday of Easter at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Seattle. It is intended to help the viewer experience liturgy done excellently in a particular parish on a particular Sunday and to reflect on how that celebration touched the lives of the people who participated in it.

Much of the film consists of scenes of the congregation at worship spliced with candid footage of scenes in the lives of several families as they move among home, work and church. It employs rapid-sequence montage and cutting, flashing on the screen images of affluence, poverty, and war which help to link the words and actions of the liturgy with words and actions of the world. Based on a story written by Leo Tolstoy. Martin is a cobbler who lives alone, is very sad, has given up on life and wants to die. His wife and son have died and he is angry at God as well as the townsfolk who seem oblivious to his loneliness.

His friend invites Martin to the winter festival but is turned down. Then a holy man leaves a Bible that needs rebinding. Martin eventually reads the story of the rich merchant who invited the Lord to be his guest but failed to show him the ordinary signs of hospitality. (27 minutes) Study Guide.

CEA - 105 - VALUES IN VOCATION

This one-hour production of New York's Trinity Episcopal Church documents part of the Archbishop of Canterbury's 1992 visit to the Unites States. George Carey challenges a theology and a history that "assumes that the center of Christianity is the church rather than the world," and calls for radical rethinking to create a new, prophetic church and vigorous lay ministry and leadership to "turn the Episcopal Church inside out."
